
Why Your Bathroom Heater Actually Sucks (And How We Fixed It)
Most bathroom heaters are just fancy fans. They try to warm up the air, and then they hope that air actually reaches you before it drifts out the door. If you’re in a drafty changing room, you’re basically fighting a losing battle. We decided to stop messing with the air entirely. Instead, we use shortwave infrared. It’s a completely different feeling. Think about standing in the sun on a crisp winter morning. The air is freezing, but your skin feels toasted. That’s exactly what’s happening here. The heat moves at the speed of light and goes straight into your skin and clothes. You aren’t waiting for the room to warm up—you’re warm the second you step under it. To get that “luxury hotel” vibe, we use high-wattage quartz halogen tubes. These things get incredibly hot, which is what allows them to push out those shorter wavelengths. But there’s a catch: you have to get the spacing right. If you pack too much power into a small space, you’ll end up with “hot spots” that feel more like a sunburn than a spa. Plus, if the lamps are too close to the reflectors, they’ll just bake themselves to death and burn out way too fast. It’s all about finding that sweet spot between “instant warmth” and “too close for comfort.” Now, bathrooms are basically torture chambers for electronics. Between the steam and the humidity, things corrode fast. To stop that from happening, we use gold-plated or specialized alloy connectors. We also use polished aluminum or anodized steel reflectors to make sure those IR rays actually hit you, rather than just heating up the ceiling. One last thing—don’t just plug these into any old outlet. These arrays pull a lot of power. If your electrical panel isn’t ready for it, you’re going to be tripping breakers every time you want to get warm. Make sure your wiring can handle the load so you don’t end up with overheating conduits in your walls. That’s a problem you definitely don’t want.
