
Why we built our gazebo heaters to actually be fixable
Let’s be honest: most outdoor heaters are designed to be thrown away. You buy one, it keeps you warm for a few seasons, and then a heating element pops. Since they’re usually sealed shut, you can’t actually get inside them. Your only choice? Toss the whole thing in the trash and buy a new one. We hated that. So we did things differently. The 1500W Sweet Spot When it comes to a backyard gazebo, 1500W is just right. It’s enough punch to fight off a chilly breeze, but it won’t blow your circuit breaker the second you flip the switch. We use shortwave infrared tubes. Instead of trying to heat the air—which is impossible when you’ve got open sides and a wind blowing through—these tubes beam heat directly onto you. It feels like sitting in the sun, even when it’s freezing outside. No more rewiring nightmares Here is the best part. We built these with a modular chassis. If a tube finally gives out after five years of heavy use, you don’t have to spend your Saturday afternoon tearing apart your ceiling or messing with a soldering iron. You just pull out the slide-out module, swap the tube, and slide it back in. It’s a drop-in fix. Done in minutes. A quick word of caution Now, there is a trade-off. These lamps get incredibly hot. To keep the electronics from frying, we used high-grade aluminum to pull that heat away. But you still need to give the unit some breathing room. If you cram it into a tight soffit with zero airflow, the internal wiring is going to take a hit. Just give it a little space to breathe. We’re big believers in repairing things instead of replacing them. By separating the heating element from the power housing, we turned a multi-hour repair job into a quick swap. You get your heat back, and you keep a piece of junk out of the landfill.
